If you ask Shannon, she'll tell you that Eddie was her Uber driver. (Which, to be clear, he was not—but don’t ruin it for her, she tells it so well.) According to Eddie, we met when he heroically rescued a dog from a burning building and I just happened to be walking by with two iced coffees. Again… not quite true. But the real story? We met the modern way—on a dating app.Yes, we both swiped right, and thank goodness we did. Our first date was full of laughs, great conversation, and the mutual realization that we had finally found someone who just got it (and also laughed at each other’s bad jokes, which is a very solid foundation for any relationship). Since then, life has been full of love, adventures, dog cuddles, spontaneous dance parties in the kitchen, and lots of tacos &amp; tequila.So while we may each tell a different story depending on who’s asking—or what mood we’re in—the truth is simple: however we met, it was the best thing that ever happened to us.

How We Met

We were in San Juan, Puerto Rico for a work conference—well, I was there for work. Eddie, in true spontaneous fashion, booked a last-minute flight and decided to tag along. This sudden spontaneity made me slightly suspicious... or at least hopeful that a ring was also coming to Puerto Rico. While I spent my days in conference sessions, Eddie was secretly turning into a full-time event planner. Unbeknownst to me, he was coordinating with the hotel staff, scouting the beach, and planning a sunset proposal like he was the next contestant on The Bachelor. The moment? It was perfect. Right before sunset, he led me down to the beach—cool breeze, waves crashing, palm trees swaying. Earlier that day, we had taken a Puerto Rican rum tasting class, which we now suspect played a small but important role in giving him the final boost of courage. I said yes—somewhere between laughing, crying, and making sure it was actually happening. It was magical, messy, and totally us.
